Cosy Weekend

Our weekend started Thursday afternoon when my husband came back from work due to the risk of snow and ice. As Thursdays and Fridays are normally my days off from my day job and as I didn't have other commitments with my freelancing business, I took full advantage and got some well deserved rest. I have been so busy in the last two months that it feels like I am half way through 2018 already so the  mini holiday I had was more than welcome.

Walking in the snow while snowing - it had to be done and I finally got the chance to wear this lovely yellow hat from People Tree. It just needs a matching yellow scarf so I started to knit one a month ago, but I was too busy with other things to finish it.

Having a few days off meant that I could resume knitting the scarf - I hope I will finish it for the next week's post even though the weather will probably improve and I will have to put it away for a few months! By taking so long to knit, it made me appreciate, once again, what handmade means and how much time and energy people put into creating something unique. So no, these items are NOT overpriced!

We had a lot of rest, watching films and series and doing some intellectual activities. Both my husband and I are bilingual (Romanian and English) and we both studied literature and languages in university so every now and then we set ourselves some challanges (as we no longer read as much as we used to). We have this chalk painted cupboard door in our kitchen which is not just for menus and recipes, but for our challenges too. This weekend - alliterations in both languages.

And it couldn't be a cosy weekend without the smell of baking and some comfort biscuits. I saw this recipe over at Sum of Their Stories a while ago, but I just didn't have the time to try it. What better excuse to bake something nice than when it's snowing and snuggling is a must. Did you have a long weekend? How was it?

  1. My husband and I talked about needing some qualitly "us"-time soon. Life takes over so easily and time seems to fly, it's important to celebrate the being "us" every once in a while!

  2. Good to see you had some couple time. Sometimes slowing down due to the weather is a good thing.

  3. What a great attitude towards the 'enforced' break! We were snowed in for five days and enjoyed time sitting by the wood stove, making flapjack and snowy walks with dog. :o)

  4. It's amazing the difference a week makes! No sign of snow now where we are, what about you? I'm so thrilled you enjoy making my nan's biscuit recipe.
