Free hand painted wall by Teodora Totorean |
When a friend asked me to paint on a wall for his girls’ room, I hesitated quite a lot. I haven't done it before and I had no idea where to start or what sort of paints I can use. I had painted some furniture in my home, but painting on a wall was simply on another level. A more scary level.
He knew he wanted a rainbow and two clouds and when I asked him if I could put some flowers in the clouds, his face and mouth said a big, enthusiastic ‘YES!’. This was the decisive moment: I was going to do it. And I did it. After seeing one episode from 'Great Interior Design Challenge' where one of the contestants painted on a wall using acrylics, I thought I would give it a go using my usual paints.
I like the fact that he allowed me to paint how I wanted to, which means that he respects my style and this is exactly what an artist wants from a client. Result: happy girls, happy dad, happy artist. And the most surprising of all, I rather enjoyed it!. Next wall - a big tree and rabbits 🌳🐇🐰.

ReplyDeleteThank you :). And yes, the Great Interior Design Challenge is very inspiring, I always change things in my home when the programme is on!
DeleteThis is fantastic, what fun. I did a jungle with what I thought were cute cartoon animals for our daughter when she was born but by the age of 2 she suddenly decided she was scared of the money and we had to cover his face with t a poster of Barney! Luckily a year or two later she decided the monkey was ok after all. We still tease her now about the scary monkey and she's 22! I think your's will be much less controversial!
ReplyDeleteSo funny! Nothing scary here so far; the hedgehog is soft and fluffy, allegedly :).
ReplyDeleteI love painting big on walls, I've done a beach scene in a bathroom, a castle in a kiddies room and a 'church window' as well as painting on doors, it's such good fun, I love the colours you've used :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's great! Yes, it was fun :).
