New Cook Book: Sensational Salads

I know that making salads doesn't involve too much cooking, but I needed a book to give me more ideas than my usual onion, tomatoes, cucumber, pepper and feta cheese salad. As I like variety and trying new things all the time, a book containing 101 salad ideas is right up my street. And I wasn't disappointed. First on the list: anchovy salad - lettuce, tomatoes, anchovies and olives plus white vinegar, olive oil and lemon juice for the dressing. Other salads were equally delicious: green bean & walnut salad, potato salad, and walnut, pear & crispy bacon salad - four down, 97 more to go and yes, there are fruit salads too. Result!

Anchovy salad - anchovies, lettuce, tomatoes, olives + olive oil, white vinegar and lemon juice.

Bean & walnuts salad: boiled green beans, spring onion, garlic, oregano and parmesan cheese  + olive oil and white vinegar; topped with toasted walnuts

Potato salad - boiled baby potatoes, spring onion, homemade mayonnaise, paprika & chives.

Walnut, pear & crispy bacon salad - the salad required watercress, but as I didn't have any, I added lettuce. For the dressing: olive oil, lemon juice and honey.

  1. I love salads, must admit not so keep in the winter but come summer perfect. That book looks really good as often hard to make salads inspirational.

  3. I'm not a fan of oils or dressing in salads but I do like to add things like grapes, pine nuts or raisins, I'm also a fan of beetroot with salad. :)

  4. It's good to try new combinations - looks like a lovely book. I am trying out some of the hundreds of recipes I've collected from newspapers and Pinterest, etc over the years. The good ones get stored in a binder - the duff ones go straight in the recycling bin.
