January Sketchbook

One of my new year's resolutions is to try and sketch something every day, even though not everything will become a finished painting. Sketching is good to jot down ideas or just record something that inspired you on the day. As I normally paint directly on canvas images that I have in my head, sketching proved to be quite a challenge. I am more about painting and creating textures than drawing, but I must admit that I enjoyed my little drawings. Here are a few images from my sketchbook drawn throughout January, some became paintings, some are just there to inspire me for future paintings and some are just drawing exercises. I will come back with an update later this year.

  1. The sketches are so good, love the one of the flowers in a metal jug, so pretty. It is hard to maintain doing something every day but can only be a sketch does not have to be a full blown piece of art.

    1. Thank you. Yes, that' s the idea 😊. I wouldn't have the time to do more elaborate sketches.

  2. I especially love your daffodils. Here in North Carolina, I can't wait to see ours push through the ground. Your other sketches are so very nice, too. Fonda

  3. Awesome! Sounds like a great idea - hope you'll stick to it, just imagine what a lovely collection of sketches you can leaf through at the end of the year... Oh, I'd sure like to have a leaf through too...
